MFA Number Matching: A new Feature from Microsoft

MFA number matching is a key security upgrade to traditional Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). It will come into effect from 8th May 2023 and will only impact application approvals within the Microsoft Authenticator application (so, not via SMS/text). 

The upgrade prevents users from accidentally or blindly authorising a rogue login attempt since the application will prompt users to match a number presented on the sign-in window rather than simply accepting or denying log-in requests. 

This new form of MFA has a lot of advantages and is one of the most secure ways to log into your Microsoft account.
