Can you name the football teams who’ve won ‘The Double’ (the League title and FA Cup in the same year?) Clue: there’s only been six. (*)

Now the Littlefish team have achieved their own ‘Double’ by being accredited – for a second consecutive year – ‘One to Watch’ by Best Companies, again validating the company’s people-centric approach to business.

The significance of this nationwide accolade is that it is based on an impartial and confidential 3rd party survey of the organisation’s staff, rather than headline corporate messaging. The award underlines Littlefish’s ethos of promoting workplace engagement and evidences the fact that the organisation’s #PeopleMatter philosophy is not just a brand statement, but a ’lived and breathed’ experience.

Tried, tested and well-respected, Best Companies apply a rigorous, academic methodology, based on 8 common factors that gets to the heart of what people want and expect from their working lives. These factors include Well-being; Leadership; My Team; Personal Growth and ‘Fair Deal’.

Littlefish is at the forefront of people-centricity in the workplace, helping it meet long-term business objectives and create employment and career progression opportunities through sustainable growth.  This purpose is highlighted through numerous staff engagement programmes including the Best Companies survey;  our  recent appointment of a Head of Talent, responsible for spearheading personal development and leadership programmes; the Littlefish Academy which offers employees the opportunity to achieve industry recognised accreditations, rewarded with increased earnings; a vibrant and relaxed workplace; and an internal first policy for new roles that has seen a number of promotions from within over recent months.

The result is a highly motivated, knowledgeable and engaged team, and Littlefish establishing itself as a sought-after employer in the IT marketplace, distinguishing itself as a Giant Slayer in a marketplace dominated by ‘usual suspect’ global IT outsourcers.

Littlefish CEO Steve Robinson said, “Our people are our greatest asset and we recognise they are a critical part of our ongoing success. Ensuring an inspiring working environment is created is tremendously important, because Littlefish knows that happy employees create happy customers, and longevity in turn enables stable business growth and an ever-increasing reputation within the market and the city of Nottingham.”

Staff well-being in this fast-paced environment is served by the innovatory appointment of workplace Mental Health First Aiders, vibrant city centre offices with gaming facilities and break out areas for staff to relax and unwind, and the development of an inclusive culture which fosters mutual co-operation, open communication and collaboration. Meanwhile a participatory extended Leadership team gives managers and team-leaders of the future the opportunity to engage in, and learn from, senior leadership practice, to enhance their career development.

New starters at Littlefish’s city centre offices frequently quote Littlefish’s people first ethos, and the exciting growth trajectory and the opportunities this offers, as key reasons for joining the success story.

(*) Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham are ‘the ones’, with one, extra-tough answer – Preston North End, way back in 1889!

Edit: Manchester City have since gone on to become the SEVENTH team to do the League and FA Cup double in the 2018-19 season.
